Dr. Kay Colbert
Dr. Kay Colbert has approximately 300 hours of professional training in mindfulness-based programs through the University of California San Diego School of Medicine's Center for Mindfulness and has been teaching mindfulness for over a decade. She is trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression, and Mindful Self-Compassion. Kay holds a doctorate in social work from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice, with her dissertation research focusing on using mindfulness interventions with vulnerable populations. Her success as a nonprofit leader, coupled with her extensive mindfulness expertise, greatly benefits the program, ensuring participants receive comprehensive, practical, and evidence-based training.

Sarah Sampson
Sarah Sampson is a lead trainer and curriculum advisor for the Mindful Communities Fund (MCF), where she delivers training programs centered on mindfulness, empathy, compassion, and belonging for organizations that serve youth and at-risk populations. Sarah received advanced mindfulness training from UC San Diego Medical School. In her previous role as the Social-Emotional Learning and Mindfulness Facilitator for Keller ISD, Sarah led the district-wide implementation of SEL and mindfulness-based activities for over 35,000 students. She is also certified in trauma-informed restorative practices. With a degree in nonprofit management, Sarah dedicates her life to community impact, ensuring that MCF’s programs are effectively designed and implemented to meet the unique needs of diverse communities, thereby maximizing their reach and effectiveness.

Meena helps ensure that the programs created by MCF meet the highest educational standards. Dr. Christopher Willard, PsyD
Dr. Willard is a Harvard Professor of Mindfulness and Psychology, a standard-bearer in making an impact with mindfulness, and the author of over ten books, including Child's Mind, Growing Up Mindful, and Raising Resilience. He is also the former chair of the Mindfulness in Education Network and serves on the board of the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy. Chris advises MCF on program impact with science-backed and trauma-informed programming. The MCC is designed to be accessible to all participants, offering a blend of livestreamed and recorded programming along with guided self-practice. Here are the key components:
Livestreamed Programming: 15 hours of live sessions, which can also be accessed as recordings for later viewing.
Recorded Content: 10 hours of pre-recorded programming to provide flexible learning options.
Guided Self-Practice: 10 hours of structured self-practice to deepen mindfulness skills.
Flexible Completion: While the program follows a set schedule, it can be completed within one month from the start date to receive certification.
Assignments and Final Project: Participants must complete all take-home assignments and submit a final project to qualify for certification.
